When Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh announced their wedding, all we could think of ‘I can’t wait to see what she wears!’. The Bollywood couple dress impeccably. With Ranveer’s eclectic taste and Deepika’s Sabysachi led style, we knew it was going to be good! We dissected their wedding looks to give you the ultimate lowdown. Take note - you are about to see some major trends coming your way...
For their Konkani ceremony, Deepika and Ranveer were adorned head to toe in Sabyachi clothing. This is no surprise as Deepika often if not mostly wears Sabysachi clothing.
Deepika opted for a traditionally silk woven Benarasi outfit. It looks like a rust/maroon two-tone saree with a matching silk dupatta. Deepika often wears a traditonal silk saree to red carpets so we were sure she would also don for one during her wedding. With silk sarees it is all about finding the right shade that complements your skin tone when you are looking for a red/rust shade. This rust shade she opted for was perfect as it did not clash with her 2nd outfit.
She accessorised with Sabyasachi diamond jewellery, featuring the Sabyasachi signature thick shingar pati, jhumki earrings, chocker and rani haar necklace. They are crafted in diamond and precious stones set in a traditional kundan style. Look closely and you can see the smallest details of emerald green and red in her jewellery.
Ranveer wore an ivory silk kurta with matching dhoti trousers. Keeping it simple for the first of their ceremonies.
We love the traditional south Indian dress of their Konkani ceremony and the happy couple really embraced India’s rich cultural heritage with their clothing.
For their Sindhi wedding the following day, the Bollywood power couple were inspired by North India for their ceremony.
Deepika stunned in a blood red Sabyasachi lehenga. It is a raw silk lehenga, with what appears to be a lightly embroidered full ghera skirt. If you look closely at her dupatta, you can see Hindi words embroidered along the border- such a unique touch!
She is wearing Sabyasachi jewellery as well - we love her bold tika and nose ring! Alongside her choora bangles you can also a singular chunky gold bangle as opposed to multiple smaller bangles - a trend that is becoming more and more popular! And you can’t miss how she has piled on those rings. Deepika’s lehenga skirt is not so heavily embroidered so having the layers of bangles, rings and chunkier jewellery is the perfect balance for her bridal look.
Ranveer Singh’s outfit perfectly complements and matches Deepikas. His hand-woven Benarasi Sherwani is matched with a red scarf with the same embroidery work as Deepikas dupatta to unite the couple. He has worn row and rows of ruby gems along with a diamond kundan necklace with emerald stones. Ranveer has mixed patterns in his outfit - with a striped gold turban contrasting against his brocade motifs on his sherwani. As he has kept the same blood-red tone in everything it all works together perfectly.
The couple look beautiful and so happy on their wedding day, we wish them all the best! Sabyasachi designed and created such beautiful outfits that really focus on traditional hand-made techniques that have been used for hundreds of years.
